Talk: "A Fresh Look at the History of the Industrial Revolution" (Leatherhead)
Details
There is much more to the origin of the Industrial Revolution than harnessing steam, and the invention of the spinning jenny in 1764. This panoramic story is much older and more intriguing. And why didn't it happen in France or Holland? Was invention driven by science or the other way around? The cast of characters in this talk includes William the Conqueror, Henry VIII, Louis XIV, James Watt and a quack doctor.
