Fetcham Springs Archaeological Project Open Day
The Surrey County Archaeology Unit (SCAU) and the Leatherhead and District Local History Society are running a five-year project to investigate an ancient site at Fetcham Springs, which is just outside Leatherhead. The project has received a significant National Lottery grant to do this.
SCAU is running an open day on Saturday 4th July.
Come along to see archaeologists at work and learn how they
investigate and interpret the past. Visitors will have the chance to:
- View active excavation areas
- Speak with archaeologists about their discoveries
- Learn how artefacts are uncovered and recorded
- Gain insight into local history and heritage
- Watch a flint knapping demonstration
- Watch how our ancient ancestors made a fire without matches
The site is just off Mill Lane in Fetcham.

If you have any questions, please contact SCAU. Don't post them on meetup. All I know about this event is the information in this ad.
