My final SYW walk (for now)
Beginning our walk in the charming village of Cranleigh, Surrey, leaving the lively High Street for the quiet of a disused railway line. This green corridor, flanked by ancient oaks and overgrown hedgerows, offers a peaceful retreat where the distant sounds of the village fade away. The path leads you to the tranquil Wey and Arun Canal, where the still waters reflect the lush greenery, interrupted only by the ripple of water and the flutter of dragonflies.
Continuing on, you’ll circle the edge of a disused airfield, now reclaimed by nature and dotted with wildflowers. The atmosphere shifts as you approach a secluded "pagan" standing stone shrine nestled in a grove of ancient trees, offering a moment of reflection. The final stretch of the journey winds through wooded paths, eventually guiding you back to Cranleigh, leaving you with a sense of having journeyed through both nature and history.
Free parking on Sundays at Stocklund Square!
We've provided an automated estimate of the end time and this will be affected by many factors - please only use as a guide. The description above may also have specific notes on ending details.
