Thursley Common Scrub Bash
Details
Thursley NNR Volunteering (0 miles, Non-walk event)
Sunday 8th February
Start: 10:00
End: 15:00
Please RSVP at our website (green button) and not here, thanks!
Come along & clear some invasive scrub to make areas suitable for rare birds to nest in when nesting season starts (in march). Birds such as Woodlarks, Dartford Warblers & Nightjars call Thursley Common home & they can only continue to do so so long as people clear the areas for them.
Although I've not had the finalised plans for the day from the Ranger there yet, we are usually clearing gorse (spikey), birch & pine trees from areas of heather. We have a big fire & burn all the stuff we chop down. Loppers & bow saws are provided.
Please make sure you wear clothes which you don't mind getting ruined - embers from the fire can burn small holes in clothes & bags.
Please bring lunch, water, work gloves, sturdy footwear or wellies & a mug for tea & coffee which will be provided.
The day will start at 10am & usually finishes at around 3pm, however please feel free to come for as little or as long as you'd like to, you'll be very welcome.
See you there!
Exact location to be provided nearer the time. This is an externally organised event.
We've provided an automated estimate of the end time and this will be affected by many factors - please only use as a guide. The description above may also have specific notes on ending details.
