About us
Too much concrete, traffic, and chain storefronts got you down? For most of us living just north of Atlanta, we are within an hour's drive of some incredible Georgia Mountain scenery. This group is for people who live, work, or play in and around Atlanta - Alpharetta, Roswell, Suwanee, Duluth, Sandy Springs - and hear the mountains calling. This is a great group for meeting new people who share the love of nature and outdoors or think they might but don't know yet. It doesn't matter whether you have never hiked a day in your life, this group is a great introduction. We'll hike for enjoyment - that means we aren't concerned with setting a certain pace, and we will be there to enjoy and connect with nature. If you like taking pictures, enjoy exploring new places, can't stand running and want alternative exercise, or you've finished the entire season your Netflix obsession in 48 h and now you have to wait a year for the next season, come join us!

Parking is free, and free is good! 😁
Unfortunately, doggies are not permitted on this trail. The hike will start at 10:30am, and I figure it will take us about 2 hours and finish just in time for lunch! I do like to start events on time so please do not be late for the consideration of all attendees.
Below are some helpful links. Please note that the alltrails one is not the exact way we will approach this trail but it will give you a good idea of what the trail is like, etc. Of course and as always, if you have any questions in advance please let me know and I will do my best to answer them.

Raven Cliff & Dukes Creek Falls – Helen, GA – Easy to Moderate – 5 - 7.25 miles
Raven Cliffs Trailhead, 3000 Richard B Russell Scenic Hwy, Helen, GA, USRaven Cliff Falls is a super popular 5-mile out and back trail near Helen, GA and for good reason. Many folks I know cite this trail as one of their N. GA favs.
Much of the hike up to the falls follows along Dodd Creek, and gives great views as well as providing peaceful & calming sounds. The falls at the top of the trail cascade between two beautiful cliff faces and is a sight well worth the hike.
Some areas of the Raven Cliff Trail does have some rocks, roots, and wet areas as well, so poles are suggested if that is your thing. Also, there is one shallow water crossing early on in the hike as the bridge is out. We will take a snack/lunch break at the base of the falls.
After completing Raven Cliff, we will drive the short distance over to the Dukes Creek Falls and complete the relatively easy 2.25 mile out and back.
If you are only interested in completing the 5 mile Raven Cliff hike and then want to split after that no worries.
We will meet outside the restrooms in the parking lot at the Raven Cliff trailhead, and will begin the hike at 9:30 am. Our pace will be 2.25 to 2.5 mph. I do like to start events on time so please do not be late for the consideration of all attendees.
Doggies are allowed, welcome, and encouraged to attend.
Parking is $5.00. The pin in the event map will get you to the spot where we will meet when using google maps. But cell signal in that general area can be a wee bit spotty, so it is best to familiarize yourself with the map in advance …
Below are some helpful links that can help you familiarize with the hikes beforehand. As always, if you have any questions in advance, please let me know and I will do my best to answer them.

Red Top Mountain – RT Loop Trail (adapted) - Cartersville - 7 mi. Moderate
Red Top Mountain State Park, 50 Lodge Rd SE, Acworth, GA, USDistance: Approximately 7 miles
Difficulty: Moderate
Group Pace: 2.5 – 3 MPH
Parking Fee: $5.00 or valid GA State Park Pass
Red Top Mountain State Park is a really beautiful park located up I-75 near Cartersville and has some really sweet trails with portions running alongside Lake Allatoona.
While we won’t be climbing any mountain as the park’s name suggests please don’t underestimate the hike. The trail systems that we will be linking add up to about 7 miles and are rated as moderate in intensity. So, overall, it’s a pretty solid workout as we will be keeping a quick pace of about 2.5-3 mph with a limited number of stops. Nearly all is soft surface and we will be doing a splice-and-dice of several trails, including the Homestead and Sweet Gum Trails while adding in the White Tail Spur toward the end.
We will meet at the visitor’s center which is off of Lodge Road. VERY IMPORTANT: the visitors center is not the same as the smaller “trading post” building that you see when you first come in from the I-75 entrance. The visitor’s center is back up a little ways inside the park a bit. Take Red Top Mountain Road to Park Marina Road to Lodge Road. Or better yet, just follow the pin on the event invite and it should get you to the precise place we will meet if linking to google maps. I promise 😊.
Parking is $5.00 per vehicle, unless of course you have the proper GA State Park pass. Fees can be paid online in advance, in the visitor center, or by using the cash envelope kiosk in the parking lot.
We will start at 9:00 am. I do like to and will start events on time so please do not be late for the consideration of all attendees. Energetic doggies are very welcome and encouraged to join.🐶
