Hikers go Kayaking - Chestatee River

Let's Take-a-Non Hike day and paddle the Chestatee River!

The Chestatee River is a gentle river with just a couple of Class I Rapids and is suitable for beginners. The distance is about 6 miles. We will be launching from Appalachian Outfitters Dahlonega Outpost where you can rent a kayak ($30 for single and $50 for double). Please make sure to make a reservation in advance as weekends can be popular. If you own your own kayak, then the shuttle price is $10 (but please call in advance to get all the details).

The start time is at 10:30am to give time to rent a kayak, park your car at the take out and take the shuttle back to the starting spot. We will plan to be on the river at 11:00am.

Please bring a dry bag for your personal items, a PDF (or rent one), plenty of water and lunch to eat along the way. There is a beach where we can pull off and stop for a bit.
