About the Event:

With so many deep learning frameworks to choose from, it can be hard to make a decision when to use one over the other. Maybe you have a machine learning background, but have not had the chance to explore deep learning. Join us for an introduction to deep learning and neon.

neon is Intel Nervana’s reference deep learning framework committed to best performance on all hardware, designed for ease-of-use and extensibility. neon supports commonly used layers like convolution, RNN, LSTM, and BatchNorm. There is a Model Zoo containing pre-trained weights and scripts for start-of-the-art models including VGG, Reinforcement learning, Image Captioning, Sentiment analysis, and more to get you well on your way to your deep learning solution!

In this talk, we will give an overview of deep learning through Intel Nervana’s reference deep learning framework and see examples of deep learning models trained and executed. Download neon and bring a laptop, OS X or Linux, to follow along.

About the Speaker:

Kyle Ambert (http://linkedin.com/in/kyle-ambert-5a3a0079) is a Senior Deep Learning Data scientist at Intel Nervana, where he uses machine learning and deep learning methods to solve real-world analytical problems. He has a B.A. in Biological Psychology from Wheaton College, and a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from Oregon Health & Science University, where his research focused on scalable machine learning-based methods for unstructured data curation and the application of artificial intelligence in the Neurosciences. At Intel Nervana, his team creates deep learning solution prototypes and researches optimization strategies for deep learning networks for text analytics, natural language processing, and image recognition.
