With it looking like a fairly hot Saturday coming up, we figured it would be a good weekend to stick to the coast. We will be meeting up again at the Torrey Pines Glider Port in La Jolla and heading to Point Loma - this keeps the ride a manageable distance for all groups (it is for the most part flat) and gives you time to head to whatever BBQs or plans you have for the rest of the weekend.

Point Loma is a gorgeous destination. We had a fabulous time last time we did this ride and would love to see many of you join us. For those of you who feel like 40 miles might be on the long side, it is a coastal route with minimal hills and the views make it very much worth it.

Cabrillo National Monument

The plan is to ride all the way to the end of the point through Cabrillo National Monument. Since this is part of the National Park Service, there is a fee - previous times we generally paid less than what we should, but the regular price is $3/bike. If you have a National Parks pass, please bring it along. Those who are active military should be free (although you may need to check the National Park site to be sure).

NOTES: Please bring an extra tube, CO2 cartridge or hand pump, and enough fluid and snacks (suggestion: two bottles minimum for the longer rides, and two snacks). Helmets are always required, and we obey all traffic laws.

There will be at least two group leaders. Depending on interest and attendance, one of the groups may follow a hillier route to Point Loma and/or enjoy a few extra climbs here and there!
