Mt Soledad is La Jolla's Hill of Many Secrets. This Saturday we will hunt down many local secret cycling pains and delights via the mountain's many scenic back roads. Ride starts/finishes at the Torrey Pines Gliderport (we will assemble at the paved cul-de-sac at the end of Torrey Pines Scenic Dr, before the Gliderport's entrance), and we will break into three groups (route maps will be posted in a few days):
A Group Ride (http://ridewithgps.com/routes/6099555), led by Jill, will tackle the more challenging climbs and descents at fairly brisk pace.
B Group Ride, led by Judy, will take on fewer moderately challenging climbs at a more humans-friendly pace.
C Group Ride (http://ridewithgps.com/routes/6098949), led by Michell, will explore the foothills' scenic nooks and neighborhoods before climbing to the cross on a milder route.
You will need to bring: A helmet, a multi-gear bicycle with low gear ratios for climbing (even the milder climbs on Mt Soledad can venture above 10% grade in short ramps), a spare inner tube, frame pump or CO2 cartridge, two water bottles and some snack for self.
