Since we'll all probably be a bit heavier after all the Christmas goodies, let's go out for a moderately flat ride north to San Clemente's famous Bagel Shack! We're meeting in front of Carbon Connection Cyclery in Carlsbad and will ride through Camp Pendleton (so please be sure to bring a photo ID and helmet, both are required to cycle through the base).

Route: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/6655372 (57 mile)

This is an out-and-back ride, so if you get tired along the way you can always stop to rest at San Onofre Beach and wait to catch the group on the way back. We are only doing a mellow B group pace ride this Saturday.

Please don't forget to bring:

Spare inner tube, frame pump or CO2 cartridge, at least a water bottle, some snack for self, photo ID and helmet.

Camp Pendleton Bicycle Rules: (http://www.cyclingdude.com/2005/03/civillian_cycli.html)

Helmet and photo ID are required to ride through Camp Pendleton. When inside the base you are required to use the bike lane or ride to the right side of the lane and to always stay single-filed. You are also required to stay on the route (Vandergriff - Stuart Mesa - Las Pulgas and the reverse. No turning into side street).
