What we're about

SWmobile is mobile focused tech group based in the South West of England. Events are free, well-liked and give members an opportunity to meet and learn from other mobile professionals based in the area and beyond.

Who goes to SWmobile?

SWmobile is open to all regardless of technical knowledge or professional background, but at a typical meeting you can expect to meet some or all of the following:

- Experts/Speakers

- Mobile apps & games developers (individuals and agency)

- Apps & Games designs (individuals and agency)

- Entrepreneurs, Clients, Hirers, Employers

- Anyone with a personal, commercial or organizational interest in mobile apps

Why go?

We welcome you to South West’s only mobile focused App Developers & Designers meetup to discover new ideas, learn and share from collective experiences, network and then go for a beverage afterwards!

Check out our YouTube channel for some examples of talks we've had - video.swmobile.org (http://video.swmobile.org/)

Who's been a guest speaker at South West Mobile?

Professional developers, hobbyists, designers, mentors, enthusiasts, journalists, freelancers… the list goes on! We try and ensure a varied mix of speakers from meetup to meetup.

If you're interested in speaking at SWMobile please fill in our CFP here (http://cfp.swmobile.org/).

When/Where's the next meeting?

Meetings typically take place once a month - usually in the 3rd week of the month. Sign up to our group for automatic notification of the exact dates.

We try and split meet ups between Bristol and Bath, but if you want it closer to home then by all means let us know or volunteer to help organise.

What happens?

Evenings start with a short intro from the organisers, then a guest speaker or two, short comfort break then couple more awesome speakers, then we head to reserved area at near by pub and it's over to you for socialising and networking.

Code of conduct

TL;DR: be nice or go home

🎄 Christmas Social 🎄

Zerodegrees Microbrewery Restaurant Bristol

Good news everyone! We're back, kind of.
Obviously it's been a weird couple of years for everyone, so for our first SWmobile in a while we've decided to do a social event with a few drinks. We'll even buy the first one or two 🙂

See you at Zerodegrees Microbrewery on Wednesday.

If you have any questions or concerns please do get in touch with one of the organisers.

For entry, you will need to demonstrate your COVID-19 status by providing either:
• Proof of a negative NHS Rapid Lateral Flow Test (such test to be taken within 24 hours prior to attending the event at the venue); or
• Proof of full vaccination - both doses received (with the second at least 14 days prior to the arrival at the venue); or
• Proof of natural immunity based upon a positive PCR test within 180 days of arrival at the venue (and after the 10-day self-isolation period following the result).

Please be ready to show this when you arrive!

NHS Rapid Lateral Flow tests are free. You can order NHS Rapid Lateral Flow Tests here https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests or pick them up from any pharmacy or test site https://www.gov.uk/find-covid-19-lateral-flow-test-site
Please do not bring the home test strip with you.
Follow these instructions for what you need to do:

If you do not have access to the internet, you can also report your test result by calling the phone number in your test kit’s instructions, NHS 119.
You will need to demonstrate your negative NHS Lateral Flow Test result by showing us one of the following:

• OR by using the NHS COVID Pass https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/covid-pass/ , available through the NHS App https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-app/about-the-nhs-app/

We cannot accept vaccine cards issued at vaccination centres as proof of vaccination.

You can also get a paper version (vaccination status only - not test results - 2 weeks after having a full course of the vaccine) sent to you in the post. You do not need to be registered with a GP surgery or have an NHS login for this. You can get a letter (within 5 working days) by requesting a COVID Pass letter online https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/covid-pass/get-your-covid-pass-letter/ or calling NHS 119.
