Celebration of Life - and a photo walk to honor Jerry
If you’ve ever met Jerry Stachowski, you’d know he had an absolute passion for photographing life. He was a poet in so many ways with his images. Whether he photographed astrophotography in the mountains of the Grand Tetons, captured the true concentration of a street chess player awaiting his turn to make a move or experimented with light painting in cemeteries or in old Ford pickup trucks, Jerry always found something beautiful through his lens.
Jerry, who became a staple to so many photography clubs in the Denver Metro area, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep in September 2025. His loss has been a shock to many of us, as we will miss his quiet demeanor, sparkling smile and his desire to share his latest photographic images from his cell phone. Jerry was in the midst of several projects, including astrophotography in the Grand Tetons he had just returned from prior to his death, human interest images he was taking with his vintage camera, and his scheduled trip to the Bisti Badlands, New Mexico in the spring of 2026 for yet another adventure.
Jerry described himself as “a photographer, who enjoys night, macro, landscape, and people photography.” He began taking pictures at age seven and started with Polaroid (instant) photography. After figuring out this was the world's most expensive way to learn, he moved to 35mm and medium format photography. He worked in both analog and digital mediums. As John Barclay would say, he looks for images to make his heart sing. To Jerry, what made his heart sing was astro-landscape photography.
A Celebration of Life will be held December 6th, 2025, 10:30 am, at CPAC, 1200 Lincoln Street, Suite 111, Denver, Colorado, 80203. The Clubs encourage you to share this information with other photographers who may not be a part of their groups.
