What does land registration have in common with a humanitarian crisis? We didn't know either! We were there to put egos and job titles to one side and offer help on how to design and build services rapidly in order to help Ukrainians seeking refuge, many of whom were already on their way to Scotland by the time the project started...

Speakers' Bios:
Jon Fisher
Jon is a user centred design professional with 20 years experience in web, mobile, software and product design. Passionate about problem solving and design thinking. He is also an experienced team leader having lead and grown teams for award winning design agencies as well as in-house. His work has carried him across many sectors and interesting contexts from safety to e-commerce via healthcare, finance and the public sector. His clients include Registers of Scotland, Hargreaves Lansdown, Virgin Money, Liberty Global Group , Office of National Statistics, Innovate UK, Rail Safety & Standards Board, and hundreds more!

Working in GDS circles since the beginning he loves nothing more than a juicy Discovery / Alpha phase that he can regale people with on the conference circuit afterwards.

Hilary Brownlie
Hilary has worked in User Centred Design for (almost) 20 years. She is currently Head of UX and Design at the Phoenix Group - a leading financial services organisation.

Before this, Hilary built UI, User-Research, and Service Design functions in the public sector, working across a variety of roles within her 7-year career at Registers of Scotland. Hilary loves joining the dots and knows first-hand that simplicity is not simple.
