What we’re about
The Sydney Business Intelligence User Group is a group for Architects / Developers who are interested in the Microsoft Business Intelligence / Data Analytics technology stack and related technologies.
The group meets monthly and covers topics from the following tracks.
• DW: Data Warehousing
The [DW] track covers topics that are primarily concerned on the design, implementation, optimization and trouble shooting of data warehouses and data marts. The “boring” stuff – the infrastructure that makes BI happen! ;o) It covers technologies such as SQL Server Analysis Services, MDX and Tabular Model.
• ETL: Extraction, Transformation & Loading
The [ETL] track is concentrating on how you load data into your data warehouse. It looks at best practices / troubleshooting of SQL Server Integration Services and related tools.
• BI: Business Intelligence
The [BI] track focuses on the Business Intelligence tools and their rich visualization capabilities, the self-service BI vision of Microsoft's and 3rd-party solutions. This track will focus on technologies such as PerformancePoint, PowerBI, PowerMap, PowerPivot, PowerView and Reporting Services.
• BA: Business Analytics
The [BA] track covers the brave new world of analytics, big data, machine learning. This is where we will explore the world of Hadoop, APS (formerly PDW) and what Microsoft is doing with R.
We aim to deliver sessions that are of a higher calibre than paid-for events such as Microsoft TechEd. The sessions are technically deep, applicable to your work and full of "lessons from the field". You should walk away from a session with a better understanding of the technology and how it can be applied in your organization.
With that in mind please "spread the word".
I hope to see at the user group soon!
