Mt Kuring-gai River Hike! 15kms. SPHINX to BOBBIN HEAD Picnic to Berowra Beers!

Details
What a beauty of an event this is gonna be. Check out that map. I could lick it. First, it’s easy to get to. Then? The entire hike is: River on the right. National Park on the left. Final destination? The bar. Hikes like this is why this group exists and keeps growing… and finishes with smiles and “Cheers” at the end. Let’s do it.
THE HIKE.
It’s new to me, and I welcome the unknown, the adventure. From what I read online it’s a great one. Every hike I’ve done in Kuring-gai National Park has been sensational, so I’m confident this will be added to the list.
The highlights… sounds like some swamp wallabies are present. The birds. The bush. The calm of Cowan Creek the entire way. Add the picnic spots, boats, café and restaurant at Bobbin Head – sounds like a cool hive of activity within the National Park that you’d only find if hiking. Who’s bringing a frisbee? Lets’s stop for picnic lunch here.
Continuing along Cowan Creek, I do remember this part (it’s beautiful – we probably won’t see other hikers) because I’ve done the Kuring-gai Station to Berowra before, and the exit is… well, it’s testing. This 15kms hike starts with a pretty big descent, so it will end with a climb that deserves a beer. Club Berowra is right across from the train station, so please bring ID. This joint won’t “WOW” you, but it’ll do after a challenging session – we’ll make our own fun.
THE TRANSPORT.
At 950am the bus leaves Turramurra Stand D to drop us at the start of our hike, arriving 1003am. Do NOT miss that bus. Turra is a quiet suburb, so you’ll see us at the bus stop too easy… arrive early for your coffee / bathroom / croissant. But that bus? That’s our start. Drivers can park there too, then take the train back from Berowra Station.
THE OTHER STUFF.
a) We'll meet at Turramurra Station at 940am.
b) The cost. The hike is $10. PayID or Cash.
c) Don’t be late. Honour Your RSVP. Morning of cancels / no shows… well, not on at all. It's anti-social. You’ll be nudged out of the group.
d) Fitness. Fitness matters. There will be ups. Downs. Trail. Rocks. Proper hiking.
e) Feel free to bring mates, dates, ex's, etc...
f) Remember, we leave "Sydney" and enter a National Park – pack your backpack with thought and care. Water. Snacks. Extra socks. Band Aids. Towel, etc…
Looooove a newbie hike! See you soon. MJ
