10.8kms Lush Nat'l Park Hike & Beer. Mt. Ku-ring-gai to Berowra Walk (West Side)

Details

Another newbie hike… love it. Last year we did Mt. Ku-ring-gai to Berowra on the East Side. It’s lovely… so deep in nature you feel a million miles from Sydney. From everything I’m reading? The West Side is even prettier. And? Mt Ku-ring-ai Station is under 30minutes from Chatswood. This hike finishes at Berowra Station – easy for drivers and public transporters.

Let’s do it. Let’s add a Saturday beer. (Please note - if you see a duplicate hike in my group, don't stress - I changed this one due to train dramas - join here / there, doesn't matter)

Mt. KU-RING-GAI to BERORWA HIKE via BEROWRA VALLEY NATIONAL PARK:
10.8kms… Creeks. Wildflowers. Rocky overhangs and caves. Ferns, vines, mangroves, and lyre birds. And the best view in the Berowra Valley (Naa Badu Lookout). This hike looks lush, green, challenging yet rewarding when we “Cheers” at the end with a beer or wine.

We’ll meet at Mt. Ku-ring-gai Station… no doubt you’ll see other hikers, but I’ll be in my NY hat (0439 635 699) – you’ll find me. 10min for a bathroom stop, and woosh off we go. The trail is right there.

I’m not going to write too much – let’s just dive in, as it's mapped well - all on trails. We descend towards Lyre Bird Creek to Lyre Bird Caves… Calna Creek. Mangroves and marshes. Let's find a relaxed spot for a 20min rest to enjoy our surrounding. The Naa Badu lookout will be fantastic. From there it’s a dirt path ascent with some rocks to Berowra Station. Now… the pub.

Sunday I’m doing a different hike that ends at the Berowra pub, so I don’t want to duplicate that on Saturday. Further, it’s not the best pub you’ve been to. So? I’m happy to get one beer there if you all want (close is easiest – let’s be honest). But? It’s Saturday. We can hop on the train and head more towards the city to find a spot to re-fuel and have a perve. Up to you all on the day.

THE DETAILS:
a) We'll meet at Mt. Ku-ring-gai Station at 1046am. Drivers. I'd suggest parking at Berowra Station then take the train one stop south - hike back to your car - easy.
b) The cost. The hike is $10. PayID or Cash (prefer).
c) Don’t be late. Honour Your RSVP. Morning of cancels / no shows… well, not on at all. It's anti-social. You’ll be nudged out of the group.
d) Fitness. Fitness matters. There will be ups. Downs. Trail. Rocks. Proper hiking.
e) Feel free to bring mates, dates, ex's, etc...
f) Remember, we leave "Sydney" and enter a National Park – pack your backpack with thought and care. Water. Snacks. Extra socks. Band Aids. Towel, etc…

See you soon. MJ
