The Sydney French Language Group is Administered by a leadership committee of 19 organisers, it' s a cultural melting pot of native French Speakers, French language students, International French students and newly arrived French /Francophone permanent residents. , Local Francophiles of all backgrounds in Sydney ( all our activities are free of charge and no membership fees apply to join) .

This group embraces harmony, social cohesion, and assists New arrivals connect and settle in Sydney.

You can express your talent by participating in the activities and programs of our French Music and Dance Company http://www.fmdc.com.au which specialises in Choral, Band, Cirque and Early dance courses and workshops covering the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque eras.

How many members do we have? 60 new members join us every month,that's some 700 new members every year. The system automatically removes members even if they are active but don't login to the website. Once removed they can rejoin and may be approved subject to the approval process at the time, but are kept on our 5000 Members register which includes the 1400 members on this website with name and picture . Please login regularly to avoid being removed even if you are an active member of this group.

Come and Meetup with others who are also interested in all things French and Francophone particularly the French language. All levels of french proficiency are welcome.We hold several for free, French conversation meetings, outdoor activities "Pétanque"and BBQ's. We also screen a monthly French movie .

Furthermore, this group we promote Francophone art, culture and entertainment as well as cultural exchange betweeen Australia and the francophone world. One of our central aims is to assist new French and francophones new arrivals to settle well in Sydney where this group is their support base and source of settlement information.

Our Events: A condition to attend all our events is to join this group. Your application to join will be processed within 24 hours, it will be approved providing your name is real and you place a picture of yourself in your profile.

Members can invite up to 10 friends in one email, by clicking the function MORE and then click PROMOTE in the tool bar.

Your friends must join this group before they can attend our meetups.

A word of advice

This group is suitable for members that have done some French studies and have true intention to study French or practice their skills . If you have never done any French courses , never lived in a Francophone counry and have no such intentions this group is not for you.

Members are expected to socialise in French when attending our organised meetups.

Behavioral standard

Since this group is a proper cultural and language organisation, members that join us for any reasons other than to practice their French and burden group members by spamming and sending emails to members that they haven' t met previously, will be removed from the group.

Members are subject to any complaint will be removed from the group register with or without any explanations. Members are encouraged to send their complaints to the ORGANIZER for immediate action and removal of offenders.

When applicants are approved as members , such membership although FREE to join is only permanent at the descretion of the Organiser and the organising committee.

Central Park Mall

Come join us in the Central Park Mall – the plant covered building opposite UTS. Look for us on level 2 (above Daiso) in the food hall level by the North windows (Broadway side) at a round table if we can get one. If sunny warm weather, we are OUTSIDE on the balcony on the South side. (balcony is opposite the “Koffee” shop). There are heaps of food stalls to choose from for a bite and drinks. Close to Railway Square buses and Central Station. Parking - Some 2hr free parking on Abercrombie St and lots of free 1 hr in surrounding lanes West of Abercrombie St. Metered parking only on the Eastern side and near UTS. French Meetup at St James Hotel. ( Held with The Spanish Grp). RSVP & join !

Bonjour, Le Meetup français est un groupe social. Une fois toutes les deux semaines nous avons une réunion à St. James Hotel de 18h30 à 21h. Chaque fois nous sommes plus ou mois 40 personnes. Nous sommes Français natifs ou Francophones. Vous pouvez prendre une bière, du vin ou manger quelque chose à petits prix. Venez, vous passerez un bon moment. Si vous venez pour la première fois, I’organisateur ( Simon) introduira au groupe. Pour trouver le groupe français, entrez dans le St James Hotel, montez les escaliers. Nous serons au premier étage. Demandez Simon ph :[masked] ( Au même moment dans le même bar – St James - , il i ya un groupe Espagnol composé de 50 personnes). ######################################################### A unique fortnightly event held jointly with Sydney Spanish Language Group to accomodate many members that speak both French and Spanish.The joint attendence exceeds 100 members. The Sydney French Language Group’s " Parlez Vous Francais?" program is one of the most effective free style French conversation events to be held for free in this country. At least 30% of members who attend are native French speakers from France and various parts of the Francophone world. We will be inviting from time to time Native French guest speakers to adddress the group for 5 minutes only and mingle to end of event. Only registred members can attend - free to join - members must RSVP to attend!!!!
