Winter Bush Splendour! Oxfam 100 KM Trailwalker Sections 7 + 8 - 24km (Medium)
There is no better time for a bush walk, in Sydney, that autumn!
Let's do it!
From Davidson Park we embark on a spectacular 10.5 km walk to Seaforth Oval. A gradual climb, following Flat Rock and Magazine Tracks, elevates to wonderful views of Bantry Bay. At 6 km, we re-enter Garigal National Park and cross The Natural Bridge. Scrubby trails and local roads see us safely to Seaforth Oval. And lunch!
Leaving Seaforth Oval, we wind through suburbs exhibiting a certain amount of good taste for about 3.5 km. We then enter the charming Spit-to-Manly Walk which we follow for another 4.6 km to the high ground of Tania Park, with has both magnificent views of Sydney Harbour and is the end of the Oxfam Trail Walker track.
As a total of 19 km cannot be considered a serious day’s walk, I will add the additional 5 km, to Manly Ferry Wharf; it is easy going and a shame to miss it. At Manly, we linger over a tasty beer (if desired) before catching the ferry back to Circular Quay.
I aim to complete the day’s walking by 4:30 pm.
This is a fun day of walking, rich in variation. A good level of fitness, determination and a positive attitude are all required! Please note: the first early get-out point is about 8 km into Section 7. There are numerous get-out points for Section 8.
