Stoicism in Practice: Object Deconstruction (detatchment from material items)
Details
Join us for a practical workshop on "Object Deconstruction," a Stoic method for training the mind to loosen its grip on possessions.
Inspired by the teachings of Epictetus and Seneca, this session will guide you through a step-by-step process to reduce your emotional attachment to material things. The goal isn't to get rid of your possessions, but to change your mindset so that your peace isn't disturbed by their loss.
We'll meet at Cronulla Beach Park to use the natural surroundings as a backdrop for our practice. Please bring one or two personal items that hold some value or meaning to you—something that would cause you a little bit of emotional discomfort if you were to lose it. This could be a watch, a ring, a favourite coffee cup, or a meaningful memento.
