Jim Muscaria explains some of the intriguing beginnings of religion. Jim's talk leans heavily on the controversial work of visionary scholar John Allegro.
It will take us on a trip through some interesting subjects including:
Psilocybin mushrooms, Syrian Rue and Acacia trees and the psychedelic experience
Fecundity of Mother Earth and divine fertilization .
Temple layout mimicking female reproductive organs and priests as the divine male organ.
Male and Female Temple prostitutes and their unexpected duties.
Secrecy and initiation into the fertility cult.
Impact upon Egyptian, Indian, Zoroastrian and Jewish religion and then inclusion of the Cult into Christianity.
Extensive images of Psychedelic mushrooms in 12th century books, architecture and stained glass windows.
Mushrooms as used by Druids, Vikings, fairies, witches, Santa Clause, Christmas trees and modern fairy tales.

Sydney Atheists look forward to welcoming everyone to a great atmosphere and experience.

Once a month the Meetup meets for a topical discussion with a special guest. Special guests in the past have been members of the meetup, or experts from outside, speaking on topics of their expertise. If you wish to speak, or know somebody who would like to speak to us, please contact Steve[masked].

With the approval of our speakers, we also attempt to record our talks and put them up on our youtube channel (http://youtube.com/sydneyatheists).
