- SSP North Sydney - Deadpan Photography DayTaste Baguette, North Sydney
Note new starting point at Tasty Baguette (see photos). It's time to challenge conventions with a Deadpan photo day. What is Deadpan photography you may ask? One definition is that a deadpan photo is devoid of emotion. It simply exists as a subject and photograph, usually in black & white (but there are no rules). I came across this concept via a YT video by Finnish photographer Peter Forsgard - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0W1dmfG699w&list=WL&index=5.
Key words are: simple composition, subject in the middle, minimalistic, calm and uncluttered, flat light (minimal highlights and shadows), neutral colour palette, low contrast - you get the picture! Check out the vid for more. Subjects are unlimited: people, buildings old and new, everyday items and so on. It won't be easy!
We'll meet at the Tasty Baguette coffee shop in Metro (lower) level Greenwood Plaza and trek around the local business area, parks, residential streets, to end up at the salubrious Greenwood Plaza Hotel for a refreshing lunch. - SSP VIVID DRONE SHOW by HuyenCircular Quay, Sydney, NS

MenuAn introductory video (17 minutes, with subtitles) plays on a loop in the exhibition room on the first floor.
With breathtaking views over Sydney Harbour, Elizabeth Bay House was completed in 1839 as a villa in the Greek revival style.
Once surrounded by extensive landscaped gardens, it is the most elegant and sophisticated house of the 1830s in New South Wales.
Its elegant rooms, symmetrical proportions, sweeping elliptical staircase and the use of the most exclusive materials reveal the tastes and aspirations of its original owner, colonial secretary Alexander Macleay.
Things to remember
- All umbrellas, heavy coats, bags over handbag size, strollers and other large items must be cloaked.
- Professional camera equipment, including tripods, lighting etc, must be left at reception unless you have organised permission beforehand.
- Bring a coat in winter – the sandstone house can get very cold with the breeze blowing in from the bay!
- Hand sanitiser is available for the safety and wellbeing of visitors.
