This month we are visiting The Ideas Factory at Norwich University of the Arts, awesomes! Its quite a funky place. We have 3 great speakers talking about UX goodness and perhaps badness, along with some beers from Purple Tuesday Purple Tuesday (http://www.purpletuesday.com/) and Pizza from Leathes Prior (http://www.leathesprior.co.uk/). Too easy? We think so....

What is UX design and why you’re overthinking it, probably. - Landan Lloyd, Axon Vibe

@landanlloyd (https://twitter.com/landanlloyd) | axonvibe.com

I am a UX Designer at Axon Vibe. I’m a perpetual over thinker, massive geek, and generally aspire to be an amateur at as many things as possible. My mother and father are from Zimbabwe and Canada respectively; I’ve lived in England my entire life. Design has always been a big part of how I think and I’ve always see things in a different way than most people. For a long time it looked like I was just never completely happy with anything, consistently annoying all of my friends and family with my pet peeves. Years later I found out this is called User Experience Design and I could actually turn it into a job. Then started my one man crusade to end bad design, one burger menu icon at a time. I mainly work in UX and UI for mobile but dabble in many different areas like games and product design.

He now runs The User Story, a UX and usability consultancy based in The Ideas Factory NUA, helping digital products and services to succeed through analysis and research. The User Story is a brand new startup aimed at businesses that have previously not had access to the expensive world of usability research, and is a completely unique offering in the local area. It also encompasses LAB, a SaaS platform launching into beta later this year, that will enable UX professionals to manage recruitment, plan research studies and pay incentives all in one place.

Adventures in international UX, Louise Oakham (Epos Now, LBi, British Council, Aviva)

@looley (http://twitter.com/looley)

I’ve been lucky enough to work in a number of organsations that have an international presence, so I’ve spent a lot of time onsite doing user research and UX in a bunch of places across the world, and I’ve worked remotely with many more.

I’ll tell you some tales of what I’ve learned and observed along the way: the good, the bad and the entertaining :)
