Whether you want to perform on stage, build confidence in front of a group, or just try something new, Syracuse Improv offers a beginner-friendly way to learn improv, strengthen your communication skills and connect with others.
Join us for bi-weekly improv jams in venues around the city and get notified about upcoming improv shows in the Syracuse area.
Learn from some of Syracuse’s improv comedy veterans, meet people, and have some fun.
Who this is for
• People of all levels — complete beginners to seasoned improvisers.
• Folks in the Syracuse / Central New York area who love creativity, games, laughter, and being part of a friendly, supportive community.
• Anyone who wants to build confidence, improve public speaking, and strengthen quick-thinking and communication skills.
What you’ll gain
• Greater ease speaking in front of others, whether it’s on stage, in a meeting, or just in life.
• Sharper listening, faster responses, and more confidence to take spontaneous chances.
• A fun-low-stakes environment where mistakes are welcome and laughter is required.
• A group of fellow improvisers who cheer each other on, share the spotlight, and build an improv community together.
When & Where
We meet every two weeks (bi-weekly) at various venues around Syracuse (we’ll post the location ahead of time). You can also visit syracuseimprov.com and the Syracuse Improv Events Calendar for exact dates and locations.
How to join / What to bring

• Cost: This group is free to join and attend!
• Just bring yourself, comfy clothes, and an open mind.

Free Improv Workshop - Beginners Welcome!
Northern Onondaga Public Library (NOPL) North Syracuse Branch, 100 Trolley Barn Ln, North Syracuse, NY, USYou’re invited to the next Free Syracuse Improv Workshop! Join us for a fun, low-pressure night of learning and practicing improv on stage. No prior experience required. Just show up ready to play, learn, and meet some cool people.
You’ll do fun games, learn fundamental improv skills, and get on your feet with other participants in a supportive, welcoming environment.
All of our workshops go roughly like this:
- Brief introductions and warm-up games
- A short lesson on the skills we'll be drilling that day
- A few acting games designed to help you practice that skill
- A guided improv performance near the end of the workshop
And yes, if you attend regularly, you will either become the funniest or the most annoying person in your office. Often both.
Meetup limits us to 10 people unless we pay them a zillion dollars, so if the event says “full” feel free to ignore that and show up anyway.
