Tai Chi & Qigong - an hour of calm and quiet

This meeting is in person in our studio on 29th Street. We follow a regular program that consists of a Qigong warmup, Tai Chi basics, and practice and learning of the Tai Chi form. The form or routine can be one of many different Tai Chi systems - in our case, everyone starts with the classic Yang 24. This takes about 2 months to learn and it introduces all the basic Tai Chi elements. After that, we move to the Wu system which includes a range of routines, including a flowing "fast" form, and a weapons practice with sword, saber, and more.
Depending on who is attending, we end class with a Qigong set suitable for the moment (5 Elements? The Universal Dance?) or with some partner practice. Of course "Push Hands" is part of any Tai Chi system, and we often end the class by exploring Tai Chi moves with a partner.
This meetup in intended to give you space to focus - on breathing, on your body, your mind, and on your health, without distractions. We relax and move with awareness and balance.
