Workshop: Seldom-Taught, Little-Understood T’ai-Chi Concepts & Energetics

Details
Dr. Chuckrow, a direct student of Cheng Man-ch’ing and a practitioner since 1970, will lead this three-hour workshop. T’ai-Chi students of all styles and all levels of experience are invited to participate. You will learn:
• The timing of movement of your legs and trunk to maximize the transfer of motion to your arms in doing the form. Such timing is also required in doing fajin (explosive striking movement). Fajin will also be taught.
• To recognize expansive strength and how it helps to propel the movements of the legs; the upward, outward circular motion of the arms; and the rotation of the wrists.
• The pros and cons of matching breathing to T’ai-Chi movements.
• Two-person rooting and redirecting.
Several early movements of the form will be utilized to illustrate the above concepts.
