Let's bike the Van Fleet Trail, one of the longest, flattest, straightest and most scenic trails in Florida. Nicely shaded as it goes north through the green swamp from Polk City to Mabel. Rest areas with picnic tables and potty at the 10, 20 and 29 mile mark. Drinking water at 10 miles and at the north end. You can choose your distance. No turns or forks so it's impossible to get lost. We will take brief stops at each rest area with a longer break for a light lunch at the north end of the trail. Bring plenty of water, snacks, lunch, helmet, sun block, and bug and gator repellent. There is a great bar-b-q place just up the road from the trailhead where we can eat after the ride. 7683 Berkeley Rd., Polk City is the address,. Take exit 38 off Rt. 4. Go north on Rt. 33 all the way to Comm. Ave/ Berkeley Rd. in Polk City. Trailhead is on the left.
