Chasing the Hillsborough River

Ride Leader: John
7:00 Meet up.
7:15 Wheels up.
26-32 miles.
Rolling Speed: 11-14 mph.

Parking [This is different from the usual parking area]: We are meeting in the parking lot of the Lowry Park Boat Ramp (1204 W. Flora St. Tampa, 33604). The parking area is located north of Sligh Ave just off of North Boulevard. [If you are arriving via I-275, take Exit 48 W. Sligh Avenue. Head west on Sligh toward Lowry Park/Zoo Tampa, and make a right on N. Blvd.] There are restrooms, but they may not be open before the ride.

The Ride: We will head north from the parking area along the Hillsborough River. We will continue to chase the river through Seminole Heights where we will see quite a few pocket parks and interesting little springs. From there we will head east and then north through Temple Terrace and just north of the city limit. From there, we will turn around and return to the start.

The route back can be adjusted (shortened) depending on the heat or if a hard rain is imminent.

Our beloved ride leader is looking forward to this recreational tour of Tampa upon his touring bike. A hybrid is an excellent choice for this ride. There will be lots of shade. John is looking forward to a great turnout :)

Breakfast: If the weather is favorable, we will eat at Felicitous (a really cool coffee shop) @ 11706 N. 51st St. If the weather is not great, we will eat at Mamma's, a really good Greek restaurant.

We are recreational bicyclists. Rides start from different locations in Tampa Bay led by volunteers. You must wear a helmet and exhibit safe riding. Cyclists are subject to the same traffic laws as drivers. Be prepared with water & a spare tube/flat kit.
