July's Book: French Revolutions: Cycling the Tour de France by Tim Moore [A humorous travelogue documenting the author's attempt to cycle the Tour de France weeks before the pros arrive. I just hope readingthis book doesn't dash my dreams and knock this very venture off my bucket list!]

Here is the link to the book and summary on Amazon.

I look forward to the Tour de France every July, and this year is no exception. On July 18, pro-cycling teams will attack a 115 mile mountainous course from Vioron to Orcieres-Merlette, including a 7.15 mile-long climb at a 5.4% grade. We, on the other hand, will be covering about 25 miles at a much tamer pace and level of exertion.

The Ride: We'll start from the parking lot of Le Belleair Cafe in Clearwater, head south on the Pinellas Trail to Milennium Park, then north to Walsingham Park and John Taylor Park before returning to the cafe.

This ride can be 99% on trails, but we can also venture into some of the neighborhoods for variety. The group can decide how we will return.

The Restaurant: Le Belleair Cafe ~ A cozy place that feels like Paris (1261 S. Ft. Harrison Ave, Clearwater, 33756)

Read, Ride, Repeat: We meet once a month (or so) to ride then relax at a cafe or restaurant and discuss the book. We then pick the next book and route. You're welcome to join us for the ride if you don't read the book. Life happens, ride anyway.

The Safety Stuff:
Be prepared with water, snacks & a spare tube/flat kit. The summer months are particularly hot. Please bring extra fluids and your favorite electrolytes.
You must wear a helmet and exhibit safe riding.
Cyclists are subject to the same traffic laws as drivers.

Ride at your own risk: By joining, you acknowledge that you're unconditionally accepting full personal responsibility for all associated risks to yourself and your property.
