Learn and Teach Something About Ancient Cultures and Archeology

Details
Let's take a break from politics, pandemic, etc. and all learn something new (or really old). Bring some info about archeological finds or cultural information that you think others will enjoy.
Here are some of the finds from 2020:
It Wasn’t Just Pompeii. Archaeologists Say the Roman Republic and Even Ancient Egypt’s Ptolemaic Kingdom May Have Been Ended by Volcanoes
The eruption of Alaska's Okmok volcano may have triggered a famine in Rome following the death of Caesar.
What’s 25,000 years old and made entirely of mammoth bones? A mysterious Ice Age structure built in Paleolithic Russia.
Under excavation since 2014, the site measures 40 feet across and features bones from 60 mammoths. Archaeologists still don’t know why or how it was built, or what it was used for.
Stonehenge made this list last year after archaeologists discovered that the smaller “bluestone” dolerite rocks in its central circle came from the Carn Goedog and Craig Rhos-y-felin quarries in the Preseli Hills in Wales, some 143 miles away.
