The prerequisites for this event is General Woodshop Safety and, ideally, the Planer, Bandsaw, and Jointer sign off.

This course is for people new to woodworking.

In part 1 of this course, students will learn how to mill lumber using the jointer, planer, and table saw. With the milled lumber, the student will learn about clamping and gluing to make an edge-grain board that they can use for cutting, serving, or as a stylish conversation piece. The concepts learned in this class can be used in furniture making, such as table tops.

Due to the required time for the glue to cure, we will finish the board in part two, which can be held when the student is available. We will discuss in class.

Students will be supplied cherry, hard maple, and/or walnut lumber. Students should dress appropriately for woodworking; no loose clothing, no long sleeves, no open-toed shoes. Students are encouraged to bring ANSI Z87.1 certified safety glasses or use the communal safety glasses provided by Tampa Hackerspace.

The cost of this course is $75. All proceeds go to Tampa Hackerspace and to cover the cost of materials.

Limit 2 students. You will be provided a payment link after joining the waitlist. After confirmation of payment, attendees will be added to the event roster.

If there are better times that work for you, please let me know. I plan to host this event multiple times for the holiday season.

This event may run longer than the stated time or possibly end earlier. It depends on what the students want to discuss, ask questions!
