## Honor & remember our fallen heroes
Carry The Load is a nonprofit organization that actively honors veterans, first responders, and their families.
Their Memorial May campaign is their largest event and it takes place all month long to raise awareness and provide active ways to connect Americans to the sacrifices made by our military, veterans, first responders, and their families.
It's a walking relay where their teams cover 20,000 miles, and hits all 48 continental US states. Memorial May was started to bring back the true meaning of Memorial Day, which is dedicated to honoring and remembering the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.
## What you'll do as a volunteer
As volunteers, we'll be raising awareness, honoring and remembering our fallen heroes by participating in the community event (speakers, singers, food, etc.) and joining in a short, casual walk (approx. 1.7 mile). And at 10 am, we will send off the relay team.
One more way you can participate that is completely optional:
- You can help raise funds to support organizations which help heroes and their families. Use **https://participate.carrytheload.org/site/TR/2019/General?team_id=15849&pg=team&fr_id=2020** to donate to Carry The Load on behalf of Tampa Volunteers. Please share the link with your family, friends, and on your social media pages. There is also an option there for you to create your own personal fundraising page, if you'd like.
