AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Oh My!

Details
Join us for an engaging and informative workshop where you'll dive deep into the world of AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes. Led by Cindy Singleton, this workshop is designed for those eager to learn about cloud infrastructure and automation.
Key Lessons:
- Understanding AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes: Discover the basics of these powerful tools and how they integrate.
- Deploying an EKS Cluster via Command Line: Learn the why and how of deploying a Kubernetes cluster in AWS. Understand the importance of repeatability, quality, and speed in deployments.
Hands-On Tasks:
- Terraform Installation & Setup: Install Terraform, and learn to configure `aws.tf` with your credentials.
- Step-by-Step Terraform Guide: Write `.tf` files to deploy each component of an EKS cluster, including VPC, subnet, IAM roles & policies, EKS, Node Group, Nginx, and load balancers.
- Launching Your Website: Deploy your website on EKS and access it online.
- Cleanup: Conclude the workshop by safely destroying your cluster using `terraform destroy`.
This workshop is perfect for those looking to gain hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of cloud services and orchestration tools. Whether you're a beginner or have some familiarity with AWS and Kubernetes, you'll find this workshop both fun and enriching.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Speaker:
Cindy Singleton, is a tech junkie, who loves future-thinking, and sharing all she knows with those around her. She believes it is through teaching that we learn the most.
She has (gulp), over 30 years experience in IT, with a Computer Engineering Degree, a Multitude of Oracle Certifications, and experience with large scale deployments of hybrid clouds in Azure and AWS.
She believes a properly designed cloud, be it in any cloud platform, is critical for the faster development, deployment, and release of products. She also believes in automated collaborative build efforts, by git solutions to source code and orchestration with CI/CD tools in order to create a service catalog for your organization. There are many products out there with similar functionality, and that is where a good architect is always learning in order to glean what is best to support customer success.
That is why she is exited to show how easy it is to rapidly deploy Kubernetes clusters, just as if they were made on an assembly line. This class will focus on AWS EKS clusters, but this methodology can be easily adapted to any cloud. With the rapid growth of AI, we will need to be able to spin up massive compute for training, and massive compute for when your AI model becomes the next Billion Dollar Idea!
