Join author Carolyn Merritt, Philadelphia’s Argentine tango dance community, and the Music Department of the Free Library of Philadelphia for an afternoon in celebration of the tango. The Parkway Central Library will host dance performances, music, an author talk, lessons, and a milonga (tango social dance party)!

12:30 Lesley Mitchell, Co-Director of DancePhiladelphia Argentine Tango curates a series of Pop-Up dance performances throughout the Parkway Central Library.
1:30 Carolyn Merritt--local author, dancer, and anthropologist--will discuss her new book, Tango Nuevo. Montgomery Auditorium – Parkway Central Library

2:30 Philadelphia Argentine Tango School Director Meredith Klein will perform with Pablo Garcia Gomez and teach an introductory tango lesson. All are welcome to participate! Students of the school will give a group demonstration. Grand Lobby - Parkway Central Library
3:30-5:00 Milonga – a tango social dance party! After an introductory lesson try out your new skills with a tango dance party until doors close. Music by DJ Lesley Mitchell.
