Tango Immersion Weekend: Musicality edition · Workshop 4: What's modern?
Details
What do we actually mean when we say modern tango? In this workshop we explore how diverse this category can be (I bet you'll be surprised), how these musical approaches shape the way we move nowadays, and how dancers can respond to newer musical landscapes while staying connected to the essence of social tango.
Suitable for both roles and all levels.
No partner required.

About this Tango Immersion Weekend
If your tango feels like counting steps instead of interacting with the music and your dance partner, this Tango Immersion Weekend is for you.
We'll focus on the foundations that allow you to translate what you hear into what you dance, in a practical, embodied way.
Instead of starting from the usual Tango-Vals-Milonga approach for this topic, we'll explore something often overlooked: the different styles within Tango Argentino itself.
Have you noticed each orchestra invites a different quality of movement, timing and presence? That's why we don't dance to every tango the same way, and why simply copying steps rarely works.
Across this Tango Immersion Weekend:
- Our Tango Essentials Lab for all levels will help you ground perception, timing, weight transfers and presence, because musicality depends on fundamentals and embodiment (well, what doesn't?).
- 4 workshops that combine individual and partner work invite you to explore how different Tango styles can live in your body.
- Our Focused Práctica supports you to integrate discoveries and receive feedback (yes, it's literally a space to practice, no Milonga dynamic).
- Our Milonga Itinerante is back! Now longer, at a new wonderful location, and on a monthly basis.
Join a welcoming space where learning meets what really matters: social dancing and tango friendship time.
This will be a special edition! Get ready to play! The first person who discovers what makes this one special gets a prize.
If you've been waiting for your dance to feel less mechanical and more like a conversation with the music, this is the right moment.
Join us to learn how to listen, choose and respond to musical impulses so your tango becomes adaptable, playful and alive.
As usual in Jessica's classes, you're welcome to join with or without a dance partner and to dance both roles.
You can register for the full weekend (and get free access to the Milonga) or single workshops, Práctica and/or Milonga, as you feel called.
You're welcome alone, with a dance partner, or friends.
Per workshop €25
Full Weekend (5 workshops + Practice session + Milonga) €140
Participants of 2 or more workshops get free entry to the Milonga
Partial scholarships are available for young students and people with low income. Use the coupon code U30 at checkout on the website or reach out to Jessica.
Spread the word and get ready to dance it all!
See you on the dance floor!
