What we’re about
This group is for anyone who wants to dance Argentine tango in the San Francisco Bay Area! Everyone is welcome, from first-timers to experienced dancers. We host a beginner class and an intermediate class on most Wednesdays. Please look at our list of upcoming events to be sure whether or not the event is happening on a given date. The classes are taught using the terms "leaders" and "followers," and are inclusive to queer, trans, and non-binary people. Come on out for tango in the East Bay!

Tango dance classes with Mira Barakat in Berkeley, beginner and intermediate
Berkeley City Club, 2315 Durant Ave., Berkeley, CA, USJoin us in January for tango classes with Mira Barakat! Mira is a beloved local teacher who teaches fun classes with a strong focus on technique. Learn the fundamentals of tango so that you can participate in tango socials all over the Bay Area!
The beginner class is open to all levels. The intermediate class is geared towards people who have been dancing for at least three months (12 tango classes).
These classes are taught using the terms “leaders” and “followers,” and are inclusive to queer, trans, and non-binary people.
No partner necessary; the teacher encourages people to switch partners throughout the class.
We encourage everyone to sign up for all four classes, but drop-ins are also welcome.
Wednesdays, January 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th
6:45 pm: check-in
7:00-8:00 pm: beginning tango series
8:00-8:30 pm: practica
8:30-9:30 pm: intermediate tango series
9:30-10:00 pm: practica
The practicas are included with the classes. Stay, dance, and ask questions! Beginners may stay and watch the intermediate class. Intermediates may arrive at 8:00 to practice together with the beginners.
$80 general admission (four classes in January, beg. or int.)
$25 general admission (single class, beginning or intermediate)
$15 student with ID (single class, beginning or intermediate)
We accept cash and venmo at the door.
