In our previous gathering, we explored the different levels of consciousness — which we described as mirrors of the void, reflecting the Buddhist insight of śūnyatā, or “emptiness,” in the Heart Sutra. We saw how this teaching invites us to look deeply into the nature of self and reality, discovering that what we take to be solid and fixed is, in fact, fluid, interdependent, and without inherent essence.
In this event, we are going to draw a parallel between that Buddhist concept of emptiness and another profound teaching — Non-action, or wúwéi (無為) — one of the central principles of Tao that Laozi emphasized in the Tao Te Ching.
