Discern and connect by following your heart with the Lovers card

Welcome! We meet via Zoom on the Third Thursday of every month.

Join us online to discuss the cards and learn about tarot symbology and archetypes. Over the next 22 months we'll take a look at the Thoth deck Major Arcana, beginning with the Fool and ending with the Universe card.

The Major Arcana shows the progress on the path of human evolution. Last month we discussed the Thoth deck Hierophant card, key 5, and his role as a connector of Heaven and Earth as a Spiritual teacher. This month, we'll discuss the Lovers, key 6, to explore the power of Love and the importance of making decisions that align with your heart, deepening connections while retaining your individuality.

The Lovers card signifies the union of opposites. Key 6 is the first Thoth Major Arcana card to depict couples rather than a single archetype. It shows the alchemical marriage of masculine and feminine energies: A prince and a princess wed holding a wand and a cup. This synthesis of creation is related to Sun + Moon, Fire + Water, Adam + Eve. Swords in the background show the intellectual process of separating and uniting opposing elements, in a deliberate synthesis like embryonic cell division. Universe creates itself by dividing into more units of consciousness, in a perpetual act of splitting unity into duality.

Lovers align with the twin zodiac sign of Gemini, where seeds of division and separation exist. The highest union of the Lovers is a recognition of individuality within sameness — because all of humanity resides within a collective life force.
