Tarot and Metaphysical Symbolism

Welcome! We meet via Zoom on the Third Thursday of every month.

Join us online to discuss the cards and learn about tarot symbology and archetypes. Over the next 22 months we'll take a look at the Thoth deck Major Arcana, beginning with the Fool and ending with the Universe card.

The Major Arcana shows the progress on the path of human evolution. Last month we studied the Thoth deck Sun card, key 19, and we explored how to step into the spotlight, express yourself authentically, and integrate all aspects of yourself. This month, we'll take a look at the Aeon card, key 20, and discuss how to embrace changes, reflect on past patterns, and move into a new chapter with purpose.

The Aeon card (key 20) represents major change, the end of an era, and the potential for renewal. A new child version of Horus, the Sun God, appears in front of a seated elder Horus — the old authoritarian power must step down to make way for the new. With the death of old beliefs and perceptions comes a new vision of a new self and a new life. The seeds of change are born in the Horus eye of illumination. The union of immortality and eternal energy creates a new era.

When Aeon appears in a reading, it's an invitation for renewal. Awaken to the future. Look for new beginnings. Life is an infinite cycle. This current chapter has reached its fruition, and the time has come to start the next phase.

The Aeon card is associated with Pluto, the planet of death and rebirth. It's also aligned with Shin, the 21st letter in the Hebrew alphabet, which means “tooth.” Shin symbolizes the process of breaking things down, similar to how teeth chew food while eating. Shin is the first stage of metabolizing and transforming energy into more refined forms.

The Hebrew letter Shin is also the Mother letter of Fire. The Fire element is the active, dynamic force that activates Consciousness (Water) within the physical vehicle (Earth) in the presence of Spirit (Air). Aeon is the balance of all four elements (Fire, Water, Air, and Earth) within the human body as a crucible.

Studying this "map" can help you determine your propensities and discover the areas of your life that can be brought into balance to support your authentic self. By directing your focus on higher consciousness, you can receive profound insights, refine your belief systems, change your habitual patterns, and cultivate a better relationship within yourself.

Start a daily practice of picking a card a day to see how the cards can help guide you to make better informed decisions.

By setting aside a few minutes each day to ask the cards a question, you are giving yourself the chance to envision the future you want to create by taking a moment to reflect on how you will achieve it. Anything is possible if you see the potential and harness opportunities.
