Tarot and Metaphysical Symbolism

Welcome! We meet via Zoom on the Third Thursday of every month.

Join us online to discuss the cards and learn about tarot symbology and archetypes. Over the next 22 months we'll take a look at the Thoth deck Major Arcana, beginning with the Fool and ending with the Universe card.

The Major Arcana shows the progress on the path of human evolution. Last month we studied the Thoth deck Moon card, key 18, and we explored the profound mysteries and shadows hidden deep within our subconscious minds. This month, we'll discuss the Sun card, key 19, and discuss how to step into the spotlight, express yourself authentically, and integrate all aspects of yourself.

At the center of the Thoth Sun card lies a Rose Cross. Crowley believed Sun is a central axis of the Thoth Tarot Major Arcana, mirroring the Sun’s role as the center of Earth’s solar system. The Rose Cross symbolizes the union of Spirit and Matter: The harmonized energy results in vibrance and abundance. The sun shines upon you, making conditions favorable for manifesting and creativity. Blossom into your true nature. Step into the light.

Twelve rays of light radiate from the center, indicating the twelve Zodiac signs. The Sun is the center point, the brilliant life-giving source. Our Sun perpetually flows healing energy and life force vitality, nurturing all living beings. Bathed in this Golden light, the soul attains atomic equilibrium.

The Sun card’s dancing twins symbolize the purest-innocent repression of the electric-male (Earth) and the magnetic female (Water) principles. Twins relate to the sign of Gemini, a zodiac sign that links Taurus (Earth) and Cancer (Water). The male child with red wings symbolizes Fire, while the female child with yellow wings symbolizes Air. Their butterfly wings represent the freedom of the soul. Their arms are outstretched, receiving clarity and enlightenment.

Like the Sun sign of Leo, be courageous and bold. Step into leadership roles and take center stage. Your warmth and creativity harmonize your life and those who surround you.
