Welcome! We meet via Zoom on the Third Thursday of every month.

Join us online to discuss the cards and learn about tarot symbology and archetypes. Over the next 22 months we'll take a look at the Thoth deck Major Arcana, beginning with the Fool and ending with the Universe card.

The Major Arcana shows the progress on the path of human evolution. Last month we focused on the Thoth deck Fortune card, key 10, and talked about life's fluctuating, expansive nature while sharing strategies to navigate constant changes. This month, we'll discuss the Lust card, key 11 (called Strength in some decks), and explore the balance between earthly and spiritual desires while intentionally flowing energy into the areas of life that resonate with joy and foster constructive creativity.

The Lust card shows a naked woman tempted by sensory desires, riding on a lion-hybrid animal. Her pose symbolizes passion pouring out of every pore in her body. Her somatic desires and her delusion are sources of incendiary ecstasy. Her left hand holds a rein, the infatuation that unites them. Her right hand holds a cup – the Holy Grail burning with love and death. Pale images of Saints in the background indicate their vibrancy has been sucked into the Holy Grail.

The Lust archetype symbolizes creative energy, passion, and the transformative power of desire. It represents the cosmic orgasm, the explosive energy of creation and the power of sex. It’s also the identity between love and death, the ultimate surrendering to passion and desire.

Key 11 is a halfway marker in the Major Arcana before the last 10 cards appear. It's a point of self-realization, where you question your potential and seek new ways to improve. The Lust card suggests quieting certain aspects of yourself in order to amplify other parts. Love is always stronger than hate. By understanding love and beauty, you can evolve to find inner power and the strength to be yourself.
