Welcome! We meet via Zoom on the Third Thursday of every month.

Join us online to discuss the cards and learn about tarot symbology and archetypes. Over the next 22 months we'll take a look at the Thoth deck Major Arcana, beginning with the Fool and ending with the Universe card.

The Major Arcana shows the progress on the path of human evolution. Last month we studied the Thoth deck Hanged Man card, key 12, and discussed surrendering voluntarily to achieve spiritual transformation. This month, we'll discuss the Death card, key 13, and explore the dual nature of death as both the end and the beginning.

Often misunderstood, the Death card calls attention to the completion of cycles and life's changes, not physical death. Death and change are inevitable and happen organically. When Death card appears in a reading, prepare for something to end and be open to a new way of being. Death may bring a long-awaited, liberating ending, but it may also refer to emotional experiences of loss, grief, and phases of rebirth that require you to reinvent yourself.

Death, key 13, is related to key 3 Empress (10 + 3), and key 4 Emperor (1 + 3 = 4). Empress and Emperor are the maternal and paternal symbols in the Major Arcana. They unite to balance the duality of feminine and masculine energy and create new life. Death is on the other side of the life equation. Without death, there can be no life. Death represents austerity and spiritualism, while the Empress/Emperor represent physical abundance and materialism.

Death invites you to let go.

Purge the old belongings, memories, and baggage that are getting in your way. Embrace change as an act of love and joy.
