Looking to meet new people in Tauranga and actually do things together?

Tauranga New Friends Circle is a friendly social group for people who want to build friendships through shared experiences! (not just one-off networking meetups with awkward small talk)

We’re connected to an established local WhatsApp group called Weekend Whanau, which has around 60+ members and already runs regular social events, usually about once a week. The Meetup group is a way for more people in Tauranga to find us, join in, and become part of the wider circle.

What we do
Our events are usually activity-based. Past and future outings may include:
*Hot pools
*Hikes and nature walks
*Cinema nights
*Dinners and casual drinks
*Local events and markets
*Tourist activities and day trips
*Adventure activities
*Games, barbecues, and spontaneous weekend plans

The goal is simple: make it easier to meet people, make plans, and build a local social circle.

Who this group is for
This group is for adults in and around Tauranga. You might be new to the area, rebuilding your social circle, looking for more weekend plans, or simply keen to meet friendly people outside your usual routine.
You don’t need to know anyone before coming along. Many of us have been in the position of wanting more local friends, so we try to make events welcoming and easy to join.

How it works
Meetup will be used to share selected events and help new people discover the group. We also have an active WhatsApp community where many of the ongoing plans and casual invites happen.
Come along to an event. From there, you may be invited into the WhatsApp group so it’s easier to hear about future plans and stay connected.

Friendly, inclusive, and adventurous. We’re not here for networking or cliques. We’re here to get out of the house, enjoy Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty, and build genuine friendships over time.
