See all- Cool for the SummerFleur De The, Saint Louis, MO
"Tell me what you want / What you like / It's okay / I'm a little curious, too"
On the world stage, tea is usually served as a hot beverage, yet it is also a staple in many of the hottest climates. How so? Often this is achieved either by chilling or sweetening the drink – or in the case of the American South's sweet iced tea, doing (and occasionally overdoing) both. So as we slog into the dog days of summer, let's explore how we can still sip a delightful cuppa while the humidity makes more than the glass perspire.
This month we have the good fortune to be visiting the Fleur de Thé tea room, opened by the 'teapreneur' Vucinovich family last fall in the Tower Grove neighborhood near the Botanical Garden. In addition to the generous use of their semi-private event space, the delightful proprietress Colleen has offered a tasting flight of their new fruit teas for us to sample!
Fleur de Thé is modeled after a traditional tea room, and normally serves a variety of international High Teas, served on the iconic 3-tiered trays. And though our event's focus and selections will be on the cool-drink side, we will still take a little time to describe the history and attributes of high tea service should you have an opportunity to return for the full experience. Highly recommended!
In addition to fruit teas, we will also have a few other seasonal drinks available to try, such as a Moroccan-style mint tea, plus open discussion of any other ways to incorporate tea into warm-weather concoctions. And per usual, we will take up whatever anyone has to ask or share about tea more generally, explore future ways to Cozy, and thus and so.
Spaces are limited, so reserve your spot early, and join us for a cozy respite from the dreaded July doldrums as we Steep Tea Locally!
[Nota bene: we are currently able to offer these teas and spaces at no charge, though of course any local business we visit would appreciate any additional purchases we can make. If you would like to voluntarily contribute something to help cover our costs, you can make a donation via the Pledge feature of our group, with our thanks. But mostly we just want a chance to share our love of tea!]
