What we’re about

--ABOUT THIS PEER-SUPPORT GROUP--

The group is an open and freely accessible support space run on a voluntary basis. The group enables people to connect and support each other on this beautiful journey called LIFE. The group is an open forum and members share responsibility for facilitating a Meetup and providing peer-support. The group includes members who work in (or have studied) the fields of mental health, counselling, physical health, wellbeing and mindfulness.

This group is not to be confused with a professionally facilitated and led therapy group – it is a peer-support group. Attendees are kindly asked to take personal responsibility for their own wellbeing. And to keep this in mind when deciding whether to attend a Meetup and what and how much personal material or experience they feel comfortable to share with the other attendees.
****IF YOU ARE IN A CRISIS OR IF YOU OR ANY OTHER PERSON MAY BE IN DANGER - DON'T USE THIS SITE OR ATTEND A MEETUP. THESE RESOURCES CAN PROVIDE YOU WITH IMMEDIATE HELP: https://tealswan.com/get-help-now/

The format of the Meetup is flexible and adapts according to the constellation of people at a given Meetup and the needs of the attendees. The objective of the group is to facilitate a space for attendees to peer-support each other. In the past members have sought support with:

bereavement,

addiction,

sexual orientation,

domestic abuse

and

spiritual & religious beliefs.

Meetups take place in person in London and online for people to support each other, to share and to connect - with the work of Teal being The Spiritual Catalyst for this.

--WHAT HAPPENS AT OUR MEETUP?--

The group is primarily an in person platform for people to provide peer-support to each other; by sharing their experiences, what matters to them and the teachings which inspire them and may help others. Since April 2020 the group has expanded and is complemented by virtual Meetups by way of video conferencing.

For online Meetups attendees are encouraged to attend by using both video and audio. Video as well as audio is required to attend a Meetup where a member is new and has not met the other attendees. Where an attendee already knows the other attendees and everyone attending feels comfortable with this, an attendee may participate by audio only for part of the Meetup.

Unless otherwise stated, the theme for the online Friday night Meetup will be the 'Ask Teal' video released on her YouTube channel the preceding Saturday. Members are welcome to view this video prior to attending the Meetup. Following a brief check-in, the latest ‘Ask Teal’ video will normally be shared via screen-sharing at the start of the Meetup. After watching the video together, there is an opportunity to discuss it with the remainder of the Meetup being an open forum.

Teal Swan's work is the catalyst for this group. The group allows for stimulating conversations and also, for those who wish, exercises such as exploring core beliefs or shadow work. Attendees are also welcome to share ideas of wider work outside that of Teal, the group being an open forum. Attendees are welcome to bring exercises to share and to invite the other attendees to participate. If so, there will then be a check-in with all attendees: who are of course welcome to participate in a given activity/exercise or not. In the past these have included, cards, writing, drawing, a game, a guided meditation and even a little bit of movement or yoga. Sometimes we just have a chat and walk in the park.

Those people attending include people who work in the fields of mental health and support work. People tend to have (or have studied) some form of, psychology, spirituality, self-help or practice such as yoga, meditation, Reiki and astrology. Discussions often include or touch on childhood, trauma and the emotional body which Teal describes as our inner compass.

--IS THERE A FEE TO ATTEND?--

Attendance is free, but Meetup charges a six monthly fee to the organiser. The organiser and co-organiser have joined forces, so currently the fee for this group is approximately £33 every six months. Any donations towards this fee are gratefully received. Cash donations are welcome on the day, alternatively via Paypal: https://paypal.me/tslcmeetup?locale.x=en_GB
