Crater Lake "Ride The Rim": 23 mi, 2,500 ft gain; or 33 mi, 4,000 ft gain

Details
Two weekends a year, 23 miles of the road around Crater Lake are closed to cars, and open to bikes. The altitude varies from 6,400 to 7,700 feet. This is a unique, beautiful, challenging ride!
Ride the Rim is a pedestrian friendly event closing off East Rim Drive to vehicular and motorized traffic creating a safe space to enjoy the park on two wheels, one wheel, or by your own feet.
There is no registration fee, but a donation of $10 is suggested. Here's the site to register and get more information:

There are several options for this ride. You can start at either end of the car-free section, and ride clockwise or anti-clockwise. The entire rim drive is 33 miles, with 4,000 feet of gain. But only 23 miles of that (East Rim Drive) will be closed to vehicles. There will be a free shuttle to take you the last 10 miles, but it does not take bicycles. So you'd have to take the shuttle to your car, then drive back to the bike corral to pick up your bike. Personally, I've always just ridden the 10 miles that are shared with cars. However, the road generally has no shoulder, and there will be trailers / campers driving on the road. Note that there is no SAG wagon, so you'll have to decide for yourself if / how much of this ride you're able to complete.
Because this is such a challenging ride, I'm not going to try to lead it. It generally takes me 5-ish hours to complete, including rest stops. If anyone would like to start together, we can coordinate in the comments.
HELMETS ARE REQUIRED. Note that there will be riders going both directions, so you must keep right at all times. Participants are expected to have their own supplies (water, snacks, tire repair kits) and bicycles ready to ride. CALL 911 FOR ALL CRASHES AND INJURIES REQUIRING ASSISTANCE. Remember that there is no SAG, and no one can drive a car to pick you up in the car-free section.
THE ORGANIZERS OF THIS RIDE AND THIS MEETUP ASSUME NO LIABILITY. PARTICIPANTS RIDE AT THEIR OWN RISK.
