50K Member Celebration: A Big Party for a Big Thanks

The Tech in Motion community across North America has been growing fast and is about to reach 50,000 members! To celebrate this incredible milestone, we will be holding simultaneous celebration events across 10 cities on December 3rd at 6pm. So mark your calendar! It is only because of you and the rest of our 50,000 member strong community that we are celebrating this achievement. We are thrilled to bring you—all 50,000 of you—together on December 3rd to meet, to learn, to innovate, and to thank you for helping our event series grow. Over the past three years, you have helped build an incredible community, listened to some amazing thought leaders from companies like Box, Pandora, and Siri, and even honored the best employers and tech managers at the Timmy Awards.

Drinks will be served, companies will demo, and for the first time, we will be simulcasting our events so that our members can network across state, and even country lines.

At this year's Tech In Motion Silicon Valley 50K event, startup founder and software engineer Charlie Guo will release his debut book Unscalable (Inkshares, paperback, January 19, 2016), a series of interviews with some of the most daring founders in Silicon Valley.

Earlier this year, Charlie recounted his experience crashing and burning in YCombinator (https://medium.com/backchannel/how-i-f-ed-up-in-ycombinator-35a19e7ace68) on Medium's publication Backchannel. His honest story received tons of feedback from the startup community at large, and fueled his interest in uncovering some of the other lesser-known backstories of failures and unlikely successes in Silicon Valley. Unscalable, inspired by Paul Graham's famous essay Do Things That Don't Scale, features interviews with companies that have since been valued at over one billion dollars, from Zenefits founder and CEO Parker Conrad, to GitHub founder Tom Preston-Werner, Tilt Founder James Beshara, Codecademy founder Ryan Bubinski, and many others — giving us a look at the edgier moments behind the glamour of the tech boom.
