Come and learn to make iOS apps in Objective-C! This will be a consecutive 6 week mini-class on making iOS apps. Dinner will be provided!

We will work as a group to make a very simple app, where you will learn not only Objective-C and iOS, but many important programming concepts. All levels of coders are welcome to attend.

This event is week 1. We will learn Xcode, a little Objective-C, and basic app architecture.

What to do beforehand?

You will need a Mac computer running OSX 10.6.8 or later. Please install Xcode from the Mac App Store before you arrive! It is a very large program and will take some time to download. If you do not have a Mac, please let us know in your RSVP so we can try to pair women together.

As with all Women Who Code events, this event is open only to those who identify as a woman. Women Who Code is emphatically trans- and queer-friendly.

Hello ladies! The response to this event has been overwhelming, and more than we anticipated. We are ecstatic that so many of you want to learn.

We want to clarify that structure and material are not finalized. This six week study group is an experiment, where we’ll learn from you while we share our experience. It will be followed by the multi-week course, using the new curriculum we develop together.

Learning iOS development can be VERY tricky. One of the hardest parts of learning to make iOS apps is learning to use Xcode itself. We have been there; experienced teachers and mentors make ALL the difference.

We are convinced that a multi-week curriculum, teacher-led, is prerequisite for getting a good first experience of iOS development.

You can do that solo, or use the Google Group to connect with study buddies.
