Overview

We're a group of women who want to learn JavaScript together. We welcome people of all levels. Beginners are especially encouraged. You move at your own pace in this group, so it doesn't matter if you are a fast or slow learner, or if you attend every week. (You can use any study materials or work on personal side projects. Whatever you prefer to learn.)

We now meet every Tuesday, 6:30 - 8:30pm.

Format

Please meet us in the lobby of 405 Howard Street, and Michelle or Stephanie will come at 6:30 to bring us up to our space at Mixpanel. If you arrive after 6:40, speak to the front desk and they will ring us to let you up. You can also try messaging us on this meetup page, or on slack if you are on the js study group channel.

We generally start introductions around 6:45pm and then work on coding problems or projects, independently or with others. Although the focus is on JavaScript, we also cover closely related topics such as HTML and CSS and other web technologies.

There will typically be more experienced coders available to help beginners with what they are stuck on.

(The only tools you need to start using JavaScript are a web browser and optionally a simple text editor or code editor.)

This event is targeted to people who identify as female.
