Hike - Cedar Butte
Take a short hike up a forested butte near Rattlesnake Lake, just 1.75 miles each way with 900 feet of elevation gain. Reach a summit with views toward the north, from Mount Si to Mailbox Peak, and several other peaks in between. Some hikers judge Cedar Butte to be a better viewpoint than the much-visited West Tiger 3 summit, and it requires less effort and has smaller crowds, so when you are ready for a change of scene check it out. Also, even though this hike is only 3.5 miles we have the ability to go further on a different track if we want since there are additional trails in the area. But if the weather sucks and we want to get out of the rain we can do that too. In other words, plenty of options. From the parking area, walk past the privies and informational bulletin boards, and follow signs to the John Wayne Pioneer Trail / Iron Horse State Park. The former railroad grade is wide and graveled, and gets some traffic from mountain bikers. The first part of the trail borders the Cedar River Watershed. The rideshare for this trip is $8 per person. See you all at the NORTH Side of Green Lake Park n Ride at 8am. Or, in the case of the eastsiders, the Outback Steakhouse at 8:30am.

What we're about

Welcome to Tenderfoots Adventures. We are very excited to meet you and have you join us on our multitude of excursions, social get-togethers and vacations. This is no ordinary meetup group, we have a full-time , and soon to be two full-time event planners and managers, myself (Weston Williams) and my son Joshua. We currently offer Tuesday urban treks, Thursday hikes (moderate), Sunday hikes (difficult), single and multi-night adventure travel and snowshoeing and skiing in the winter. We will now expand to offer Friday night happy hours, arts & entertainment evenings, more vacation getaways, cycling, paddle sports, golf and pickleball in the summer. For our more adventurous members, mountain biking, rock climbing and mountaineering. And four times a year we get together to host a big party for all of our members.

Our group is comprised mostly of retired folks, but we happily accept active people of all ages, a good mix of couples and singles, who love to keep fit physically, socially and mentally as we enjoy our retirement years. We have a commitment to stay fit for life, to live life with joy and energy, taking responsibility toward our health. We hike, walk, bike and snowshoe and are also open to other activities such as kayaking, fishing and rafting as well as share travel experiences, books we've read and other creative arts.

At Tenderfoot Adventures we endeavor to bring you a unique Outdoor Adventure group where we do all the planning, organizing and managing and let you join in on the activities that you enjoy while including a community of like minded individuals who share your interests.

We also have a web site in development and a multitude of social media outlets through which you can connect with your family and friends to share with them your experiences. And because our group is rapidly growing, it allows us an advantage to negotiate better rate discounts and deals with vendors and other service providers as well as invite and include a multitude of sponsors to host our events. Which means, that as a member of Tenderfoot Adventures you now have access to several perks previously unavailable before joining us. We are excited to grow this area of our organization and I hope you will be as well. Our most exciting perk is the ability to negotiate better rates with property management companies in resort locations to extend to our members discounts on their own personal travel getaways.

And that's not all. Beginning Jan 1st 2019, we have a health & fitness/activities center located in Ballard. This is a multi use facility with a group of providers offering several types of classes and courses to help you get the most out of your activities such as hiking, cycling, ultimate frisbee, mountaineering, rock climbing, or whatever your interests are. There is also a martial arts studio on site for those who enjoy this discipline and activity. Classes and courses carry an additional cost and if you are interested we would be happy to discuss this further.

Quick note about DOGGIES!!! We adore our lovable, wonderful fur babies and I'm sure that we would fall in love with your amazing best buddy as well. HOWEVER, our insurance company does not allow our members to bring along ANY animals (except of course certified service animals) on our events and excursions. So, unfortunately your cute, warm and friendly bestest buddy will have to miss out on our adventures. Sorry.

So many adventures, so little time. We hope that you enjoy your Tenderfoot experience and as I always say, "I work for you, the member, you tell me what you'd like to go do, see and experience and we'll do our best to make it happen." Have a fantastic day.
