---About Us---

Welcome to Test Engineering Alliance Meetup, which aims to provide a collaborative, friendly environment where you are encouraged to learn, exchange ideas, discuss and network with other testing & technology professionals.

We hope and we aim to improve the level of testing competency by promoting practical value-adding practices over less effective yet popular practices.

This community will grow with you, so we invite you to join us, participate and help us build a great testing community in your city.

We hold monthly networking meetups and talks, along with organizing training events and conferences.

Getting started with writing automation for APIs: Live coding session

Needs a location

With software systems becoming ever more distributed, and with APIs being the glue that connects and holds together many of these systems, knowing how to test and write automation for APIs is quickly becoming an indispensable skill for any modern software tester. But how do you get started?

In this live coding session, you'll see how to get started with exploratory testing on and writing automation for RESTful APIs using the REST Assured library for Java. We'll cover:

  • How to create a Maven-based project with REST Assured and JUnit
  • How to use REST Assured to do exploratory testing on APIs
  • How to get started writing automation based on what we observe
  • How to use various features of REST Assured and JUnit for writing effective tests

Mentor bio:
We are excited to have Bas Dijkstra delivering this talk for us. Bas is a well known name in the testing industry. He is currently the Director at Inspired Academy. Bas has been actively advocating automation in testing for the past 15 years. He lives in the Netherlands with his wife and two sons. More for Bas is here: About | On Test Automation
