**READ THROUGH BEFORE SIGNING-UP (and ensure you check your meet-up chat regularly :-) )**
Can't think about a better way to wrap up the week then kayaking around the city channels.
GreenKayak, a NGO dedicated to raise awareness to ocean pollution, makes few (open) kayaks available across the city to paddle and help collecting waste floating in the water.
Open kayaks are typically easier to manovre than other types, and do not require EPP2/EPP3 patents.
I booked 2 double kayaks for 4 ppl in total.
It is possible to use the facilities at Kayak Republic free of charge: restrooms, lockers and showers.
**REQUIREMENT**
\- Safety first \- Need to be able to swim comfortably
\- Waterproof gear preferable
\- Sun lotion and sunglasses
\- Change of clothes in case yours get a bit wet during paddling
\- Towel\, if you want to shower or just in case
**COST**
Unfortunately, due to the frequent last minute cancellation last summer, it was challenging backfilling participants with short or no notice, and it was very disrespectful to the group and GreenKayak NGO.
**To reserve your spot, please transfer 150 kr. to my mobilepay 25717293**. The amount will be returned to you if you show up on time, or the event is cancelled for other reasons; **this remains a free non-profit event**.

Nightwood by Djuna Barnes
Thanks to everyone who joined for our latest discussion of *Zorba the Greek* by Nikos Kazantzakis yesterday.
It was wonderful to see both familiar and new faces, and I hope you all had a meaningful and enjoyable conversation.
The next book to read is *[Nightwood](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nightwood)* (1936) by [Djuna Barnes](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Djuna_Barnes).
Set primarily in Paris during the interwar years, *Nightwood* follows a group of deeply entangled characters navigating love, obsession, longing, identity, and loss. Dark, poetic, and psychologically intense, the novel has become one of the defining works of literary modernism.
A short description of the book reads:
*Widely regarded as a modernist masterpiece, Nightwood explores desire, alienation, gender, and emotional dependency through some of the most lyrical and haunting prose of the twentieth century. It is also considered one of the earliest major novels to openly portray same-sex love between women.*
You can read more about the book [here](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/53101.Nightwood) and listen to it as an audiobook [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoAM5_gJNZw):
Although *Nightwood* has never had a major film adaptation, the novel has had a profound literary influence. Writers such as T. S. Eliot, who helped edit and publish the book, praised its style and originality, and it has since become a cult classic within both modernist and queer literary history.
For other resources on how to get a hold of classic books, please see the *[About](https://www.meetup.com/copenhagen-classic-book-book-club/)* section on the front page of the group.
We meet up on **Saturday, June 13th, at 4 p.m.**
The location will once again be the [Garden of the Royal Library](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Library_Garden,_Copenhagen).
During the spring and summer months, we always meet outside here. If the weather turns rainy, we will simply move indoors.
Please remember to bring your suggestion for the next classic book to read.
And, as always, please be mindful and respectful of each other, so that everyone feels welcome and appreciated.
In the meantime, happy reading/listening â or however you prefer to do it.
CafĂŠ Philo Copenhagen
We meet on Saturdays late mornings to have a casual, meaningful conversation on topics of interest to everyone chosen on the spot by majority voting. So please feel free to propose your own topic!
Everyone is welcome to talk, but if you prefer to just join and listen, that is perfect too.
As the contacted cafĂŠs usually only give reservations to eating guests, it is very welcome if you order something to eat during our stay. This is however not mandatory.
This event is in English.
The exact place can still change.
Cocktails & Collage Night: A Hygge Creative Workshop
Escape the winter chill and immerse yourself in an evening of creativity, conversation, and coziness. Join us for a **Cocktails & Collage** a seasonal gathering that celebrates Danish *hygge* through drinks and imaginative art-making.
Set in a contemporary art gallery turned into a creative studio for the night, youâll begin with a delicious cocktail or a glass of wine and even alcohol-free option will be available.
Once you test our cocktails you can settle into a candlelit workspace stocked with vintage magazines, colorful papers, fabrics, and other tactile treasures. A collage artist will guide the group through a meditative cut-and-paste flow where youâll create a visual piece rooted in seasonal themes like winter coziness, Copenhagen memories, or dream landscapes.
Whether you come with friends or on your own, this cozy and creative evening will leave you inspired, relaxed, and ready for winter.
The bar will keep open for those who want to explore more of our cocktail menu
Note: The event is free but does not include the drinks

Shut Up & Write!⢠Copenhagen
Join us for an hour of writing! Weâve discovered that itâs strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if itâs true for you at our Copenhagen Shut Up & Write! sessions.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, rĂŠsumĂŠ, melody, poem, or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
SCHEDULE:
- 15 minutes of hellos and getting settled; maybe some quick intros.
- Then, the timer starts! : writing for 1 hour.
- After the hour is up... chat / take off / keep writing, if you're on a roll.
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens once the hour of writing is complete. Writing can be very solitary... connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
It's best to be on time, but BEING LATE IS ALSO OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check in with us after the session. (Weâll be the ones with the small Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
What Should I Bring?
Whatever you need to be able to write!
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafeâs overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons.
đ Run for the Rainbow: Vestamager Edition
đ
June 13th
đ 10:00 am
A relaxed rainbow 5K through the beautiful nature around Vestamager đżđđ

đââĄď¸ Jog very slowly
đś Walk half of it
đ
Regret your decisions after 7 minutes
â Mainly came for brunch afterward
âŚyou are welcome.
Weâll meet at **Vestamager Metro Station**, do a relaxed 5K-ish route together around the trails and nature areas, and cheer each other on with absolutely zero pressure or competitiveness involved.
The goal is simple:
⨠Move together
⨠Get fresh air
⨠Meet people
⨠Feel slightly healthier for one morning
And yes â if people are up for it, weâll likely grab brunch or coffee together afterward âđĽ
Bring:
đ Comfortable shoes
đ§ Water
đŚď¸ Clothes for Danish weather chaos
đ Main-character energy
No pace expectations. No fitness expectations. Just rainbow humans trying their best together.

⢠After the session, we have the option to extend it a bit to get a drink or some food we can bring or order food so we can hang out a bit more. (Mellemrummet is very relaxing regarding bringing your own food from home or other venues; there is a poke place right in front.)
Everyone is free to do fewer or more collages as wished, the triggers and frameworks are only a reference. We dedicate some time to appreciating techniques, shapes, colours, and textures to learn and get inspired by each other.
